With a Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance from McGill University, Geneviève has over 7 years of teaching experience with students of all ages- from beginner to intermediate levels of playing. In addition to teaching private violin lessons from her West Des Moines violin studio, Miss Salamone is currently a Faculty member with the Des Moines Symphony Academy, where she teaches group classes to young beginning violin students. Geneviève can also be found coaching orchestra and chamber music students at Valley High School in West Des Moines, Iowa. In the past, Miss Salamone has taught from both her private studio as well as The Montréal Academy of Music. Her flexible teaching style provides a specialized pedagogical approach that adapts the lesson to the need of the student- i.e. pace, repertoire, or method of learning. In addition to the classical genre of music, Geneviève is familiar with the teaching and playing styles of Pop, Celtic, Folk, Fiddle (Irish, Bluegrass, etc.), and basic improvisation. Miss Salamone’s lessons focus on creating a solid technical foundation, emphasizing music theory and music history, all the while ensuring a fun and creative learning environment! Her hope is that all of her students will be inspired by what they learn in their lessons and through using their acquired knowledge and skills can emerge as independent, confident and vibrant artists.

Experience

Student Reviews

"Ms. Salamone is an excellent communicator and instructor. Our daughter learned more about playing the violin in the last few months as her student than in the two years of lessons from others. Ms. Salamone is patient and encouraging while still striving for excellence in the student's technique and musicality."

-Beth B.

"My experience with Geneviève was a decidedly fantastic one! She instinctively couples teaching the challenging demands of the violin with providing an encouraging, patient, and downright fun environment to do it in. Whereas with previous teachers I dreaded attending lessons, with Geneviève I found myself eager all week to learn from her. Prior to lessons with her, I had not played in violin in several years. However, Geneviève was highly accommodating and patient with my progress; she even saw more potential in me than what I imagined and immediately helped foster my confidence to purse challenging, yet fun, ventures for the instrument. Thanks to her, my interest in the violin has been reignited and I love it more than ever..."
